Savile Rogue was founded in 2006, after our realisation that the only football scarves you could buy were nylon, garish and out of keeping with what we wanted to wear. We therefore set about making cashmere scarves that were sumptuously soft, warm and compact, and subtly free of club names and logos, that we could wear not just to the match but on any occasion.
Cashmere wool is one of the most precious fibres known to man. It is uniquely soft and warm without being bulky. Our top grade wool is selected from cashmere goats in Mongolia, with each goat producing enough wool for a single Savile Rogue scarf every year. Which explains why high quality cashmere is so expensive.
Savile Rogue has developed strong ties with some of the UK’s leading football fan sites and bloggers. We support initiatives that give supporters an independent voice in the face of relentless corporatisation of the sport. And we support any initiative that sees money flowing not to greedy players and agents but to the grassroots of football, the building of inner city sports facilities and the inclusion of the maximum number of people in the game. We donate a proportion of our modest profits to charities that work in this area.
We're a small business but we aim to offer a high level of customer service and will do our best to answer your emails within 24 hours. Our customer service team is available to answer your calls 7 days a week on 0845 260 1930.
Caring for your cashmere scarf
Whilst your Savile Rogue scarf should last many years, cashmere is a very delicate wool and should be looked after carefully. You can handwash the Deluxe (knitted) scarves in cold water using a delicate wool detergent, though be careful not to wring the wet scarf or you will mis-shape it. For our Classic (woven) scarves, we only recommend dry-cleaning - once a season should be enough.
• Remove surface soiling by gentle brushing - this will help prevent stains later on.
• Treat stains immediately with cold water, blot dry with a clean cloth, but never use a paper towel.
• After wearing, lay the scarf flat, as this helps to get rid of odours such as cigarette smoke.
• Always store cashmere wool folded and allow breathing space.
• Clean your scarf before storing, as moths are attracted to body oils and dirt and not the actual wool.
• Repel moths using lavender, rosemary, thyme, cloves, cedar or orange peel tied up in gauze or a handkerchief. Never place them directly onto the scarf.
Excessive dry cleaning can give a glazed appearance and over exposure to chemicals can degrade the fibre over a prolonged period. You should never tumble dry cashmere.
