Chelsea do a Dolce & Gabbana photoshoot, leave space for John Terry to be Photoshopped in

Chelsea’s squad got suited and booted in some designer clobber for a fashion shoot with Dolce & Gabbana yesterday. But, you might have seen on the news, some prominent members of the squad were otherwise engaged. The role of John Terry was played by an empty chair. With the aid of some digital trickery, you can expect JT to be … Continue reading

Manchester City fans take a battering from police in Madrid

There had been a few murmurs that Manchester City fans had been on the receiving end of some heavy-handed policing while in Spain for last week’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. Now YouTube footage has emerged of some of the skirmishes. City supporters are seen getting hit with batons without appearing to do too much wrong (a couple of … Continue reading

Ex-Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg swears on Match of the Day 2

Whether or not Arsenal have the correct ratio of steel to skills has been a subject of some discussion for a few seasons now. Everyone’s favourite footballer-turned-Calvin Klein underwear model (there aren’t too many other candidates), Freddie Ljungberg, chose last night’s MOTD2 to give a straight-talking analysis of how the balance was achieved during his trophy-winning days with the Gunners … Continue reading

New York Red Bulls fans suffer banner spelling problems

Savile Rogue has never felt the need to whip the bedsheets off in the spare room and take a tin of paint to them. Each to their own, though. Some people obviously have a special fondness for a homemade banner. If for some reason we did decide that we wanted to carry a Dulux-daubed duvet cover to the match, we’d … Continue reading

Galatasaray fans march through Manchester with their flares

You can always rely on Turkish fans to put on a show… and they decided that their performance should not be limited to those who happened to be inside Old Trafford last night. Ahead of their Champions League meeting with Manchester United, they paraded around the city in full voice with flares lit and banners unfurled making sure the locals … Continue reading

Win an all new Savile Rogue King football scarf

We’re always grateful for customer questions. Last season, a lot of the feedback we received could be broadly grouped into two categories: “I want to be able to tie my scarf in a European loop as if I’m a sophisticated continental football manager. Which scarf should I get?” “I have a really big neck. Which scarf should I get?” As … Continue reading

Hillsborough and the football scarf

There’s not much we can add to yesterday’s Hillsborough Independent Panel report that hasn’t already been said elsewhere far more eloquently than we could muster and, in the cases of those who lost friends and family among the 96 or were there on the day, with more pain than we would even want to imagine. What we do know is … Continue reading

Dubious Mario Balotelli x Ralph Lauren slippers hit the market stalls of Nigeria

Poor old Ralph Lauren’s taste seems to have deserted him judging by his new range of slippers. Curiously, the slippers don’t appear to be widely available. The exclusive collaboration with Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has been released in very limited numbers, and most pairs seem to have been supplied to Nigerian market stalls. As you can see, the slippers … Continue reading

Scotland fan plucked from crowd to score equaliser

It’s safe to say we’ve all had the dream: you go along to the match to support your team as usual, a strange set of circumstances ensue and the manager has no choice but to ask if you’d mind putting on a pair of boots to help your team out of a pickle. That’s exactly what happened to Scotland women’s … Continue reading

If you’ve ever wanted to see Dirk Kuyt dressed as a Roman soldier, it’s your lucky day

Dirk Kuyt was relieved from his duties as a workhorse at Liverpool this summer. And he seems to have taken up a new post as a Roman soldier. For some reason, his new club – Turkish side Fenerbahce – have dressed the Dutch international up in old school military gear for a photoshoot with their official magazine.
