Small child brings Stuart Pearce’s personal hygiene into question

England under-21 boss Stuart Pearce was among the spectators at Southampton’s 3-0 home defeat to West Brom at the weekend.

The prime reason for his visit, Saints defender Nathaniel Clyne, is probably wishing he had turned up on a different day.

But if Pearce was in town to judge the youngsters on display, some of the youngsters were having their own say.

A small child sat behind Pearce at St Mary’s was shown on Match of the Day hiding beneath a large black blanket during the match.

Whether he was sheltering from the effects of the gentleman in front insisting on wearing a heavy leather jacket in the south cost sunshine or was just very unimpressed with the Saints’ performance is unclear.
