Typical Sunderland fans… they’re all from Manchester!

When your team is playing against Manchester United, you can usually guarantee at least some mileage from jibes about the fact that all United supporters are supposedly from Surrey or thereabouts.

But Sunderland inadvertently undermined any such accusations during Saturday’s defeat to the champions elect by appearing to suggest that they were among the beneficiaries of United’s unusual supporter catchment area.

The Black Cats’ supporters club’s Greater Manchester Branch had a prominent banner positioned on the front row of one of the Stadium of Light’s corners during the 0-1 home loss, thus handing United fans a rare opportunity to turn the tables and mock the opposition for not supporting their local team!
