Bolton use fan power to force pay-day loan sponsor U-turn

Bolton have scrapped a planned shirt sponsorship deal with pay-day loan company QuickQuid after a petition by fans.

Around 4,500 Wanderers fans signed the petition against the two-year deal.

The club has listened to the supporters and decided not to go ahead with the contract. Their kit will now feature the logo of local energy company FibrLec, along with a Bolton University logo (since FibrLec was founded at the university).

A small victory, but a victory for fans nonetheless. A timely reminder that we don’t have to swallow whatever our club puts in front of us if we don’t like the look of it – with a bit of organisation it is possible to be heard.
