An open letter to Galatasaray re: Roberto Mancini
Dear Galatasaray, Congratulations on appointing the most stylish manager in football as your new coach. While we suppose his considerable footballing credentials took higher priority for you than his fashion sense during the selection process, the fact that he’s a man of impeccable taste can only be a good thing for your club. When Roberto was very harshly sacked by … Continue reading

Say no to football scarf print t-shirts
While the world was distracted by the scourge of half-and-half scarves, it turns out that a new abomination has entered the marketplace: the football scarf print t-shirt. That’s right, because putting your scarf on is such a laborious task, it’s now possible to buy a t-shirt with the image of a scarf printed onto it instead. A scarf print t-shirt … Continue reading

Liverpool postcards by Dave Williams
We’re not sure if he’s planning on keeping this up for the whole season but for now at least, graphic designer Dave Williams is producing postcards of all Liverpool’s Premier League matches. Since these are mainly aimed at Reds supporters, it looks like he’s picking out the highlight of the game from Brendan Rodgers’ point-of-view. That’s good news for us … Continue reading

Football Type book
This looks like an interesting little project. It’s a book celebrating the typography of football. There’s a focus on the lettering and numbers that adorn the back of our club’s shirts, but other bits on bobs of typography are featured, too. It’s a not-for-profit project, with all money from sales going to the Football Foundation charity. There is a limited … Continue reading

Recycled Football Shirt Courier Bag by COPA
As we all know, polyester football shirts should not be worn as fashion items. But we might be willing to make an exception in the case of these courier bags by Dutch brand COPA. They’ve found a useful way of re-housing old, unwanted football shirts by chopping them up and turning them into bags. The designs include some replica shirts … Continue reading

Staying warm at the game: The Marouane Fellaini wig
Many Manchester United fans decided to show their appreciation for new signing Marouane Fellaini by donning curly black wigs in his honour. Of course, there were enterprising types outside Old Trafford for Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace selling Fellaini wigs to anyone who cared to part with their cash. To be honest, we’d rather stick with a cashmere scarf. But … Continue reading

London footballers tube map
This excellent graphic has been put together by the Press Association’s MatchStory team. It take the London underground map and replaces the stations with footballers. Each of the lines represents a different London club. The starting point for the map is Clive Allen. As the only player to have played for six London clubs, he takes the place of Kings … Continue reading

Frank Lampard’s knee-high socks
Frank Lampard confused an England walkabout in Kiev ahead of tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine with a training session. The Chelsea man wandered the streets of the city with football socks pulled up to his knees. He obviously feels that, as the senior citizen of the current England squad, he needs to start dressing the part. Or perhaps he’s … Continue reading

The World Cup Draw
The World Cup Draw is a Tumblr project started in June. The idea is to produce an illustration of a footballer every day for a year in the run-up to next summer’s World Cup. There are some great results, take the artwork of Gazza to the right as an example, especially when you consider the short turnaround time that’s available … Continue reading

Zoran Lucic’s amazing football artwork now available to buy
We’re big fans of the work of Bosnian designer Zoran Lucic’s vintage football artwork, and have featured it on this blog before. Now his work is available to buy through the new Sucker For Soccer website – a collaboration with French art store Sergeant Paper. The artwork is available as posters or, in a few cases, t-shirts. If you’ve not … Continue reading
