Liverpool arrange on-pitch scarf memorial to Hillsborough victims

Liverpool will cover the Anfield pitch with scarves on April 15 to make the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

The club are asking for scarves to be donated, with neckwear of all clubs and colours welcome. The gesture is intended to show global unity for the families of the 96 victims.

Indeed, the scarves will be laid out in the shape of the number 96 on the pitch.

If you’re donating a scarf, it must arrive before Tuesday, April 8. The club are asking people to also personal notes to the Hillsborough families along with their scarves.

After the memorial service, the scarves will be given away to good causes, such as homeless charities in the Liverpool area.

Scarves should be sent to: Hillsborough Scarves, 20 Chapel Street, Liverpool, L3 9AG.
