Arsenal fan reveals competition-winning original Gunnersaurus design

Gunnersaurus is perhaps one of the Premier League’s best known mascots, partly because he’s pretty hard to miss.

It turns out the brains behind Gunnersaurus’ distinctive look was an 11-year-old lad called Peter Lovell.

Some 20 years ago, he entered a competition to design the Gunners’ new mascot and he won.

To celebrate Arsenal’s FA Cup victory, Peter – now in his thirties – dug out his old design and shared them via Twitter.

His original design includes details on how the person inside Gunnersaurus should enter him, as well as considerations about weighting the tail to ensure he doesn’t topple over.
