England players sign their portraits by Steve Welsh

We’ve featured the work of illustrator Steve Welsh (aka Miniboro) on a social media accounts on a few occasions in the past.

His portraits are now getting attention at the very top of the game, with the England World Cup squad being presented with likenesses of themselves drawn by Steve.

The collection was commissioned with the BBC and will go on display at the National Football Museum during the World Cup.

Each squad member was invited to sign their portrait, and give their thoughts on the project.

Captain Steven Gerrard was initially unimpressed at his big nose, but immediately reflected that this was probably accurate!

He said: “The nose looks a bit big but… it’s big so you’ve got to get on with it.”
