West Ham unveil dubious new crest design

While the world was busy watching World Cup semi-finals, West Ham released a proposed new crest.

There had previously been mutterings that the Hammers would incorporate the word ‘London’ within a new logo to supposedly exploit global marketing potential ahead of their move to the Olympic stadium. With the draft design now released, it looks like additional words are the least of the problems.

We generally like to feature examples of the nicest design work in football on this blog – and we’re not sure that this fits the bill, nor that it’s an improvement on the existing crest.

In fact, it’s vaguely reminiscent of this Americanised version of a crest for the ‘East London Hammers’ that we featured a while back.

Does it float your boat?
