Commentary Project football flags

Described as where football meets visual culture, the Commentary Project tasked some talented designer, illustrators and other visual communicators with putting their ideas about the beautiful game onto a flag – the sort of flag that a fan might create and take to the match.

As you might expect, the results are somewhat better than your average paint-daubed slogan on bedsheets.

The football as religion, Diego Maradona-inspired piece we’ve featured to the right is by design agency The Chase.

You can see more of the flags that were include in the Commentary Project in this article on The Guardian’s website.
